I want to say something here that I want to make it very clear to anyone who reads this. This site, this page, these pages are not designed to slam or bash anyone. I may indicate my displeasure with individuals but in no way do I blame anyone for my situation or any situation that may have influenced the tracks operation at any one point in time. In the eleven years I have been involved with the track I certainly wish there were things i could do over, and yes there is a list of those that will lay heavily on my shoulders for a while. I think this means I accept responsibility for my short comings. The thing is now we face a rebuilding time and, Read the rest of this entry »
Looking Back 3
March 12th, 2009Looking Back 2
March 12th, 2009
The next couple of years were a building time for us. Big changes were about to come to the Memphis Area in outdoor karting. Until then, you only had a few places to run and no where were the places devoted to full enjoyment, with as many whistles and bells as possible. Indoor plumbing; a simple enough thought to think about but to have it at an outdoor race track was unheard of. And at Atoka, we had to have the worst porta-potty’s in existence. And one we had was located by the fence between the grandstand and the grid area…what was we thinking???
But even the dreams of indoor plumbing, had to come AFTER making the track a place where the racers would look at it in a different way and all of a sudden, Read the rest of this entry »
March 7th Race Results!
March 9th, 2009
This will not be a full race results type of report as i have to get back to the mother ship this morning to do my weekly chores, but those who were not there for Saturday’s first get together this season missed a lot of fun and some damn good racing…..plus a few other distractions that I am still speechless over, nothing a good cigar wont make me weld into the back of my mind though.
I think one of the most highlighted moments, on the track, was a turn one pass by that #24 purple sportsman champ, Jeffrey West Jr. No one saw it coming and I am not sure even after the race was over did he realize what he had done going into the treacherous corner. He made it stick though and Read the rest of this entry »
We Surround Them!!
March 1st, 2009Glenn Beck is a national radio talk show host, has a Evening Daily Show on Fox News and has an awesome Web Site.
I found this remarkable person immediately after 9/11 when we were all looking for answers and reasoning why things were the way they were. I was hooked on his honesty and love for his country and the family over government, not the other way around. You can choose to meet this person if you want but I follow his show as much as possible and I wanted to share a little of something on his web-site. Read the rest of this entry »
Looking Back Part 1

Look Closely at the Fence and the Hay Bales!!

Recently someone ask me what it was all about. I mean to still be doing it and looking back now on when we first started at ARP it seems like a life time ago. I actually started working there in 1999. I will never forget the first day I went out there. What I saw made me shiver, but in a strange way it was sort of exciting as well. Here in what use to be gravel pit back in the late 70′s was cut out a bowl shaped 1/8 mile kart track.
I had been working at tracks around the area since the mid 90′s but now I felt that I had a chance to feel at “home” here at Atoka. I had some definite ideas I wanted to press for and Read the rest of this entry »
Head Wrapped In Ductape
February 26th, 2009
For someone who supposed to know how to do this, I am having a bit of a row with it all…oh well such is life and I will try to sort all it out soon!
I know how to do this its just been a while, and that being said its been hard to get anything going with the logistic problems I am currently having.
Just bear with me on this as it will take time to work out any bugs if I can just find out where the bug repellent really is!!!
