This will not be a full race results type of report as i have to get back to the mother ship this morning to do my weekly chores, but those who were not there for Saturday’s first get together this season missed a lot of fun and some damn good racing…..plus a few other distractions that I am still speechless over, nothing a good cigar wont make me weld into the back of my mind though.
I think one of the most highlighted moments, on the track, was a turn one pass by that #24 purple sportsman champ, Jeffrey West Jr. No one saw it coming and I am not sure even after the race was over did he realize what he had done going into the treacherous corner. He made it stick though and went on to take the victory.
And what about the win by the 20C of my buddy Garet Clements!!, his emotions were full stretched as he lost the heat race on the final lap but came back in the feature to grab his first ever feature win; this was to be a great night for Clement’s racing….
There were so may positive things to the race in general. a LOT of new faces. A LOT of new drivers and all seemed to have a good time and the practice went on well after the last checker flag flew.
I wasn’t able to sit in the stands a reflect with my cigar, but I plan too soon, if anyone wants to join me. But REFLECT I did elsewhere, in fact it was something else I did that I haven’t done much of lately, in fact not much in the past number of months….I Laughed out loud. I know..how pathetic, but still when you’ve had the last few months I have had, a good laugh is worth a lot, and let me tell it was a great laugh, even tho my old eyes could not even begin to fathom the end result of what my laugh was all about, it was still good to sit and chew the cud in a post-race mode. One learns a lot about what’s goin’ on “out-there” sometimes just by listening and …understanding, that sometimes we all need a good laugh or two. And it was OK if I had that Deer In The Headlight Look at times …right???
I am worried big time about the kart count tho, is was very very light, but, it is very unfair to judge or base anything on the 7th of March; you’re just lucky to be out there anyways.
I wish those who were not there could have felt as good as I did concerning the good times we all seem to have. I think there are some who just cant let things go from the past and therefore refuse to come back to the place where they grew so much, dare i never say “Come Back Home”?, I could get sued for using that phrase…LOL!!!
I may add to this later on in the week, but for now I must head south back to homeland, where the Internet is scarce and the smiles even more scarce, soon to return late Thursday. I have a lot of hope for the track this year. I think we WILL struggle, as I think all tracks will. No one can sugar coat what has happened to our economy, and no one can sugar coat the length of a recovery, but recover we will. We can not do it alone, we need your help. We need sponsors, we need fan support, but most of all we need karts. We need all this absent ANY form of politics, ANY form of bad memories, ANY form of jealous envy or rage, and all it takes is to let your ego not ruin your chance to have fun again, or even worse, let your kids have fun again. Our track was built on the foundation of our youth, growing into matured racers who have been taught the best we all can offer about sportsmanship, and being as fair and as equal as we can under any set of circumstances. Sometimes it is a tough lesson and a tough lesson plan, but look at what its produced in the past? I know a lot of people could not make it just because they were not ready, but I know of some that were and still were not able to race. …well if they were not there, they missed some good racing as always….and if they were there, they missed that small part of being *part* of a great night.
There were a few moments I missed as well, or do I say I chose not to see??? Alas…only in my dreams LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I could imagine with the help of Photo-Shop….huh? I’ll work on that in the next few days and see what I can come up with, without getting to….”Involved”
And I guess I need to say kudos to our new toys…..they impressed me a lot more than first expected, and yeah I even used..Vista, and yeah, yeah yeah,,,I liked it; and at my age its hard to get me excited….
…..but I still have my Photo-Shop..LOL!!!
